As the largest pediatric primary care provider in Washington, D.C., we provide comprehensive health care through a program that serves as a national model for the delivery of integrated primary care to under-resourced communities, under the leadership of Denice Cora-Bramble, M.D., and Mark Weissman, M.D.

Building Stronger Children and Communities

Caring for children has been our focus since our early days as a community hospital 150 years ago. We’re proud to advocate on their behalf, as the providers who know them best. With a network of dedicated health professionals and public health specialists who have deep ties to the community, we cultivate a culture that strives to improve care for our community’s youngest members in innovative ways.

This work is so important to Children’s National Hospital that it is a central piece of our organization’s strategic plan, which seeks to improve the lives of individual children, as well as the overall population.

Primary Care and Beyond

Clinical care for our community’s children begins at the Goldberg Centers for Community Health. Our practices comprise the largest pediatric primary care provider in Washington, D.C., treating more than 40,000 patients each year. Our offices are located throughout the District and will soon serve every ward of the city.

While our urban locations provide pediatric primary care services for children, we go a step beyond that, providing primary care “plus:”

  • We seek to provide every child in the District with a single medical home that provides assessment, basic treatment and care resources for primary care needs, as well as for specialty care, including for mental health, asthma, teen pregnancy, obesity and more.
  • By providing children with coordinated care in one location, we work with families and community partners to follow children throughout their youth and adolescence, providing them with any and all health care resources they may need.

Our primary care initiatives have led the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) to recognize our practices as Level III Patient-Centered Medical Homes. This designation reflects our commitment to patient-centered, coordinated care that supports access, communication and patient involvement.
